YOUR WEDDING WITH GEOFF HUGHES PHOTOGRAPHY
MEETINGS THE WEDDING DAY PROOFS ALBUMS PAYMENTS
A PERSONAL NOTE
A wedding is a day of anticipation...of beauty...of fun...of love...of celebration.
Being hired to photograph an event as important and personal as a couple's wedding is a tremendous honor. I try to honor the couple in return by respecting as many of their photography wishes as possible.
I approach every wedding day with a watchful eye, ready to capture
the unique spirit and energy of the day,
the planned and the unplanned,
the posed and the spontaneous.
Result: an even happier bride and groom.
PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION:
- Specialist in wedding photography since 1996
- Member Wedding and Portrait Photographers International; Professional Photographers of America; Associated Professional Photographers of Illinois
- Official photographer Bloomington High School Drama Dept.
I have three or four important contacts with a couple:
- the initial interview
- the engagement photo session if desired - dual purpose: create romantic pictures and get used to working together
- our planning session about a month before the wedding - centered on their requests with my input
- the wedding day.
At the initial interview the bride and often her fiance or her mother meet me and get acquainted. I show them my portfolio and we both discover whether what I do matches what they are looking for in terms of style, products and prices.
If I am hired and the plan they choose includes it, we talk about their engagement photo session.
At our final pre-wedding planning meeting we sketch out all the formals the couple wants, talk about what will happen at what times throughout the day, and draft a tentative general schedule. Within a week or so I send them a draft copy for them to look over and change as needed. Once that is finalized about a week from the wedding, I draw up an abbreviated version of the schedule that they can hand out to everyone at the rehearsal. This helps everything go smoothly during the formals when efficiency is so important.

The contract time begins whenever pictures are scheduled to start. My setup time is not included.
For larger weddings (generally Cinderella Plan and above) I have one or two photography assistants who help move people through the formal pictures, shoot candids and help me with equipment.
During the ceremony I work from the rear or side of the sanctuary (including the balcony if there is one) without flash.
Reception - Besides capturing all the scheduled reception events I will gladly take any number of candids and miscellaneous shots if the couple/family wants them. As an option I can set up for formal portraits with backdrop during the reception.
Several options for viewing -
- contact sheets of medium thumbnails in an attractive spiral binder. These come on 8x10 pages, nine images to a page, and are very convenient for showing family, friends and co-workers. Included in most plans.
- a CD of all images displayable on your computer as a virtual album with slide show option. Included in most plans.
- Internet display using ProShots, a popular digital proofing and ordering system. Available with all plans at no charge.
Ordering reprints - Most weddings include a website display of all photos; easy ordering directly from the website is available. I also give the couple a supply of order forms that they can make available to those who have the opportunity to see the contact sheet booklet.

Most couples - and their parents - are interested in enclosing their treasured wedding photographs in an attractive album. All my higher-end plans include an album or an album option. I have a beautiful selection of moderately-priced albums available in many sizes, colors and designs. The couple can make their album decisions either before or after the wedding.

Options: cash, check or credit card (VISA, Mastercard, Discover).
Fee payments schedule:
- One half the service fee is due when the contract is signed.
- The balance of the service fee and the reprint deposit are due one month before the wedding.
- I welcome installment payments within these guidelines. Any alternate payment plan requested by the client must be agreed upon in writing before the contract is signed.
Payment must be included with reprint orders.
